Happy 2012

Happy 2012 everyone. (I know this is 4 days late but you know what they, better late then never!).

So the beginning of the new year was of to a good start. I said I wanted to sort out my bedroom and I started to do that on New Year’s Day. But the big  job still needs to be done. And that is to sort out the cupboard! It shouldn’t take long, maybe even just a mornings work. And as far as I am concerned, most of the stuff that is in there can go to charity.

You may have noticed that I have added a new page to this blog, Rotation Rotation. If you haven’t checked it out yet, it simply means I have now got a rotation plan for my cross stitching. Since I have got two projects that I would like to carry on working with, I have decided to do one project every other month. So in other words, for Leonardo I am working on him in January then the next time I will work on him will be March. In February I will be working on my second project, The Snowman and then going back to him in April. Does that make sense?

Anyway, this is how I left Leonardo in 2011.
A nice half of the project finished.

And this is how I left The Snowman in 2011.
You can just make out the white even though I am stitching on blue frabic.

I have done the stupidest thing with The Snowman. Thinking at the time of starting back in Barmouth that I didn’t need the key chart page, I did! The blue that I stitched in full stitches was in fact meant to be half stitches!! I couldn’t be bothered to correct it. No one will know unless I do actually point it out to them!

I have other finished projects to show you that I haven’t shown you during last year, but I have forgotten to take a picture of them for this time round. Hopefully next time!!

Not only am I having a rotation plan for my stitching, I am also having one for my writing. I have got three stories on the go at the moment. One has got a dead line while the other two haven’t. One of them is my current long story ‘Hourglass School’. The other two are short stories being written for challenges. One I have made really good progress with, the other I am still working out if I’m going to stick to the beginning that I’ve got.
So one day I will be working on ‘Hourglass School’, another day I will be working on the longer running story and then the next day after that it will be this month’s writing challenge. Or will I throw that rotation away and just write on what I feel like?

It’s here… Christmas!

Just a quick post to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Everything is wrapped up and just waiting to go underneath the Christmas tree.

Hope everyone has great Christmas and a happy new year.

Christmas Tree… Zentangle Style

Hello all. Hope you are doing well and are staying in with this weather about. Just pick me up and take me to Barmouth. This is the weather we had for most of the week! Ha  ha.

Yesterday I did 7 Zentangle tiles with a Christmas Tree as the central image. I just wasn’t up to doing some stitching. They are now all in the post along with the ATCs and one of on its own.

Here’s the trees in close up:

And one with a little background:

I decided that I didn’t like the background so I didn’t do it on the others.

As I said in my previous post I did do a little bit of stitching last week. Not much mind you mainly because of the lighting. Even with the lights on, it wasn’t good for the eyes. But here’s my progress:

Can you guess what it is? Or is ‘The’ a bit of a give-away?

Before we went on holiday I took the advantage of taking a few pictures of the cats on the old boiler. When things got moved of it, they really took advantage of the space! They even fell of it a few times! Now, however, they are taking the space on the windowsill since we’ve got a new radiator there.

Thought I would show you the views that we enjoyed so much last week:

We discovered that the apartment we were staying at was up for sale. We didn’t know at the time. So we might not be able to book it again for April :(.

It’s Christmas stitching tomorrow since I’ve got more energy today. I haven’t left it too late…

I arrived back home yesterday, feeling as healthy as can be. Today on the other hand, I am full of cold! Must be the weather we had up in Barmouth. Wind went up to 81 MPH. Thursday was the worst day. Mist, wind, and rain. It was too cold to go out for a longer walk. We went to the local Co-op everyday and by then we just wanted to go back to the apartment because it was just too cold. So most of the time we stayed inside and watched the world go by. Did a lot more art journaling then stitching mainly because the light wasn’t very good. The best day for stitching was Friday and by then I just didn’t want to do any. Spent most of Friday reading. Don’t get me wrong, I did do a little bit of stitching and I will show you the small progress sometime this week.
The heating is now done, so it’s just the fact of getting used to it. Took a while for this room to heat yesterday but it’s a lot warmer today.

I need to work on some zentangle tiles so I can get them in the post along with the last lot of ATCs this week. I kind of decided to send a zentangle tile instead of a Christmas card this year. All I need to do is come up with a design that I’m happy with! That’s what I’ll be doing to night. That is, if I’ve got the energy!

Art Journal Card

Hello everyone. Hope you are well. I seem to be posting later and later these days. Oh well…

Yesterday (Saturday 12th) we celebrated mum’s birthday. It’s hard to just say mum’s birthday when both my late sister and my mum shared the same birthday. No one’s birthday is the same in this house. My birthday is a month before my late sister died, dad’s birthday is a day before the funeral and mum shares the same birthday. Can imagine how hard yesterday was. The nearer we got to Epping Forest, the harder it was for me not to cry. Then the flowers were put in the vase and a little while later, I was crying. Not for very long but still. I tried not to but there’s nothing I could do to prevent the tears.
It’s a little late, but Happy Birthday Emma. She would have been 25 if she had lived.

Second birthday without her and it’s still odd not buying or making two lots of birthday presents. Back in 2009 I had made 4 birthday cards. Two sets for me and two sets for dad. This year, I only made one. Doesn’t feel right. But anyway, mum loved her art journal inspired card.

This year I brought mum two art journal books. One for me to give her and the other one dad to give her. She has already read one and it seems to be a good choice. She enjoyed it and there was a lot of inspiration. Along with the art journal books, I got her a Beryl Cook calendar, and her favourite cappuccino chocolates from Thornton’s.

Because the chocolate was 2 for £5 I thought it would be best to get two of the same and let dad give her one as well.

One of the books include a DVD. We haven’t watched it yet but during the week we will do. I’m guessing it will go on for an hour but we don’t actually know how long it goes on for. So we will have to watch it and find out.

Also yesterday I got my two new pairs of glasses. Both of which have got a little bling on them. One of them is purple and the other is kind of like a reddish-purple kind of colour. Still getting used to them since my distance has changed.
It’s taken a while but the starlings have now found the fatballs in our garden. At least two where eating from them on Friday.

And of course the sparrows are as busy as ever in our garden!

Now onto stitching. I’ve been working on the canvas of page three of Leonardo the last two weeks. It seems to be going on for a while considering it’s mainly halfstitch. But it’s not too long before I’m doing the backstitch and the page is finished. Perhaps by Wednesday I can see the page finish. Just a little to much wishful thinking I think!

Once this page is finished I will make a start on the Christmas stitching. I already know what I’m going to stitch and have got the thread that I need. Just need to work out the fabric that I’m going to use…

Zentangling Away

As I’ve said in my previous post I have been very much into the world of Zentangle over the resent weeks. I have been playing with layouts and still not sure on the best one. However, I do have my favourite!

This is my first A4 Zentangle border. Some elements I like, others I don’t:

This is my third page, my favourite one.

Here’s a close up:

I have got another page done but for some reason haven’t taken a photo of that one. Maybe next time…
